Earth Day, a global event, acknowledges individuals' daily efforts to protect the planet while urging others to reduce their environmental impact. In addition to planting trees and cleaning up greenspaces, there are daily steps you can take to address climate change and help preserve Earth's natural resources. Being an eco-conscious consumer who uses clean beauty products is a great place to start. Read on to learn more about clean beauty and our commitment to clean skincare standards.
What Is Clean Beauty?
Clean beauty has become increasingly popular as more consumers reject harmful ingredients and wasteful manufacturing practices. Many clean beauty brands have certifications from organizations that strive for sustainable, earth-friendly and cruelty-free practices in the beauty and skincare industries.
Our commitment to clean beauty spans nearly three decades. We are Climate Neutral Certified and, in partnership with SeaTrees, are an Ocean Positive verified brand. Our carbon offset exceeds our carbon production, reducing our environmental impact. Our products are vegan-certified by PETA and cruelty-free-certified by Leaping Bunny International to demonstrate our commitment to stop animal testing in the skincare industry.
Our formulas are free of harmful ingredients, including heavy metal compounds, phthalates, coal tar ingredients, gluten, benzene and benzene compounds, silicone-based compounds, and many more.
Instead, we follow scientifically-formulated standards that are safe, effective, vegan, and cruelty-free. We use ingredients rich with vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, including seaweed, snow mushroom, aloe vera, kukui oil and other naturally-derived skincare ingredients.
How Are Clean Beauty Products Earth-Friendly?
The average American throws away over 4 pounds of trash a day.1 The organic and non-biodegradable waste ends life in landfills, left to break down slowly and release methane gas into the atmosphere, which contributes to climate change.
Manufacturing cosmetic and skincare packaging depletes the planet's non-renewable resources, including fossil fuels used to make plastic packaging. Burning fossil fuels releases pollutants into the air, including carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide.2
Our sustainability efforts include using less paper and reducing our reliance on virgin plastic in our packaging. Additionally, we use globally sourced seaweed in our products, which is obtained using sustainable practices.
What Are the Benefits of Clean Beauty Products?
Our clean body care and facial skincare products are formulated with ultra-hydrating naturally-derived ingredients, such as seaweed and shea butter. These ingredients help the skin retain hydration and moisture for a supple, smooth finish.
Our Hyaluronic Sea Serum contains Japanese Miru Seaweed to maintain moisture levels and volcanic marine ferment to improve the appearance of fine lines. In the realm of clean body care, Undaria Algae™ Body Oil is a skin-loving elixir featuring moisturizing passion fruit, acai, babassu and rice bran oils and Undaria seaweed to maintain the skin barrier.
