OSEA:
Like OSEA, STRIIIKE is a true family affair. Can you tell us a little bit about yourselves and how you came to start working together?
JENN:
We really never thought about working together until we all ended up living in the same city (LA). We were all working pretty hard on our individual professions and when Kristie needed a new space for her brow clients, the idea was born to do something all together.
OSEA:
What are your favorite things about working with your sisters?
ASHLEY:
We may not agree on everything in life but we do tend to have the same ideas when it comes to beauty and how we can work together. We can really work as a solid team when it comes down to it.
KRISTIE:
One of my proudest achievements is what my sisters and I have been able to create with STRIIIKE. We all are our toughest critics and biggest fans so it's nice to have that honesty (sometimes 😉). I think we're also pushing each other to take risks and try things – it definitely keeps things interesting! However, family dynamics play a large role and it takes constant work to not allow them to affect the business relationships. So knowing when and where to have boundaries is constant work and can be very challenging. It has brought us closer together for the most part, but has forced us apart a few times as well. We’ve worked through some issues we may not have, had we not started a business together.
OSEA:
We love a name that stands for something meaningful, which is why we landed on OSEA, short for Ocean, Sun, Earth and Atmosphere. We heard STRIIIKE has an interesting genesis too. Can you tell us how you came up with the name?
ALL:
STRIIIKE is a take on our last name STREICHER and spelled with 3 I’s to represent the 3 respective eyes we have on beauty. Jenn: Makeup Artist, Kristie: Eyebrow Specialist and Ashley: Hairstylist.
OSEA:
What makes you feel best in your body?
JENN:
I got a Peloton a few months ago and it has really upped my exercise game. I am not a huge fan of exercise but I do always feel better afterwards. Not only have I seen a difference in my body, but even my husband made a comment the other day!
OSEA:
This year has truly been unlike any other. Are there any selfcare rituals that have helped support you in these uncertain times?
JENN:
I love a bath! And I have probably taken more baths this last year than I have in my whole life. I love trying different products and I love the way my skin feels after. I also found that getting into a good book really helps my mind to think about something else besides all the stresses this last year has brought.
ASHLEY:
In normal times I'm a big fan of going to the Korean spa and getting massages on a regular basis, especially because my line of work is taxing on my body after this long. So while being at home, I find that baths and skincare have been that replacement for me.
KRISTIE:
The most simple things such as a bath or even just a walk in my neighborhood. This year has definitely reminded us how little we actually control, learning how to let go of expectations has been a big one for me.
OSEA:
We also share a passion for clean, natural beauty. Why is this an important consideration personally and within your business?
JENN:
Don’t you just feel better when you put something on your skin and you know it's “clean”? And there are such great clean beauty brands these days, why would you use anything else?
OSEA:
What are your favorite OSEA products to pamper yourself with?
JENN:
I have been obsessing over the Anti-Aging Body Balm. It’s unlike any other product I have used. It makes your skin feel so soft and moisturized without any kind of greasy feeling. I keep the Vagus Nerve Pillow Mist next to my bed and use it often. And the smell of the Vagus Nerve Oil is divine.
ASHLEY:
I truly have NOT found a better combo than the Undaria Algae™ Body Oil with the Anti-Aging Body Balm. I oil and moisturize my entire body after every shower, the combo of the body oil with the body balm on top really locks in the moisture and makes you feel moisturized all the time! I’m in love with it!
KRISTIE:
It’s really difficult to choose! I love a dry body brush moment, followed by a hot shower or bath. Then I like to massage the Anti-Aging Body Balm into my skin while it’s still a bit damp. I don’t love digging into a jar of balm with my hands, I feel like it takes away from the experience, so thank you for putting a super concentrated balm into a pump!
OSEA:
Finally, what does the future hold for STRIIIKE?
JENN:
One common thing we share as sisters is spontaneity. Which makes us pretty fun and exciting, but it has also made us terrible planners. I think it’s one of our biggest downfalls as business partners. So this question is always very scary. And now, in the middle of a pandemic, it's hard to say what is going to happen next week. This is my way of telling you, I don't know. But that's the one thing about having sisters as business partners, we will always be family.
