OSEA offers free domestic shipping on purchases over $50. OSEA ships domestically and abroad excluding this list.

We ship all our international orders with Passport, our trusted third-party international shipping partner. Passport has a number of shipping partners around the world that handle your local delivery and ensure your package arrives safely and quickly.

International orders are typically delivered within 8 -14 business days once the order has been fulfilled. Once your order has been fulfilled, the estimated delivery date will be shown on your tracking page.

How should I store my products?

To maximize the shelf life of your products, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, humidity and excess moisture. Cleansers and body polishes may be kept in the shower.

How long do my products last?

Our products have a guaranteed shelf life of 1 year, however many will last longer.

My pump stopped working! Now what?

Where are your products made?

Our products are all made in Southern California.

Where does OSEA’s seaweed come from?

OSEA’s certified organic seaweed is eco-responsibly hand-foraged as it naturally makes its way into the shallow waters of the pristine Patagonian shore. Our seaweed is transported from Patagonia to our Southern California lab where we hand extract our ingredients. Read more about our seaweed here.

Do you test on animals?

Never. (But we did bathe our beloved family dog with Ocean Cleanser for years because it is gentle and pure enough for our entire family!) We were one of the very first Leaping Bunny Certified companies.

Are OSEA products Vegan?

Yes. Our products are, and always have been purely plant-based and free from all animal-derived ingredients such as lanolin, beeswax, carmine and more. We are certified Vegan through PETA's Beauty Without Bunnies.

Are OSEA products organic?

OSEA uses USDA certified organic ingredients whenever possible, denoted by an asterisk on our labels and website. Many of OSEA’s ingredients are USDA certified organic, including our Undaria, Macrocystis and Gigartina Algae and several of our essential and botanical oils as well. Because many of our ingredients are sourced from small farms, even ingredients not listed as organic may still be organic, but not have the expensive certification required to obtain the USDA certified organic status.

Are OSEA’s products Gluten-Free?

Yes. Our products do not contain gluten, nor are they manufactured in facilities that process gluten, a protein found in wheat and other grains. They have been tested by a third party to confirm they do not contain gluten. However, none of our ingredients are “certified” gluten-free, because our ingredient suppliers are not “certified” gluten-free. As with any new product, if you have serious allergies, we recommend that you consult with a doctor or do a patch test first to be sure that you can tolerate our products.

Are OSEA’s products GMO-free?

To the best of our knowledge, our ingredients are GMO-free, however not all of our ingredients are “certified” GMO-free. We give preference to certified GMO-free ingredients whenever possible, but because we source many of our ingredients from small, family-owned farms, operating on smaller budgets, not all of our suppliers are able to afford the high cost of procuring GMO-free certification.

Are your products nut-free?

Over half of our products are free of nuts or nut oils. All of our formulations are peanut-free. Nevertheless, we cannot guarantee that any of our products were processed in a peanut or nut-free facility. Research has shown that most individuals with tree- or ground-nut allergies can often tolerate shea and coconut oils, as these are not part of the tree and ground-nut family. For individuals with any severe nut-allergies, we strongly advise that you consult with your doctor or allergist and conduct a patch test before using any new product.

Are OSEA products soy-free?

Yes. OSEA products do not contain soy. Our tocopherol is sourced from Olive Oil.

Do OSEA products contain preservatives?

Yes. If there is one drop of water in a natural product—even in the form of aloe vera juice—a preservative of some type is almost always needed to maintain freshness and guarantee the shelf life of the formulation. Any natural product that is not a powder, solid soap or strictly oil-based requires a preservative–even if it is not listed on the label. Otherwise, you’d shortly end up with bacteria, fungus, mold and other microbes in your product! Products that are not properly preserved can become a serious health risk.

Preservatives don’t have to be toxic though! Our preservative systems utilize either natural plant-based essential oils such as Rosemary, salts, Tocopherol (vitamin E), antioxidants, Japanese Honeysuckle Flower Extract (Lonicera Japonica) or Potassium Sorbate. We are very proud of our preservative system choices and feel that these are the safest natural options possible, without which, our products would have a shelf-life of 2-3 days without refrigeration. Why do some skincare companies claim to be “water-free”?

A select few products (oils, powders, solid soaps, some salves and dry herb-based formulations) are indeed water-free. Others may claim to be “water-free,” in order to avoid disclosing the use of preservatives required to stabilize a product when there is any water or aqueous liquids included (i.e. aloe vera, hydrosols, witch hazel extract, tea, fruit juice, nut, coconut or cow’s milk, etc.). Most natural and hand-crafted skin care products require a preservative system of some kind to prevent harmful microbes from growing, and to extend the shelf life beyond simply 2-3 days. Inadequately preserved skincare products can actually be hazardous to your health. In addition, if a so-called “water-free” or “preservative-free” formulation contains “fragrance” as one of its ingredients, it almost always has a preservative in it, as preservatives are usually built into fragrance itself.

Is it normal for your product colors to vary from bottle to bottle?

Yes. Because we don’t use artificial colors in our products and our wild-harvested USDA Certified Organic seaweed is variable in color, there are natural variations in the color of our products.

Does OSEA offer an SPF?

Not at this time. We are still perfecting our non-toxic SPF formula. Sign up for our Newsletter below and you’ll receive notifications on our new product releases.

Are all your products packaged in glass?

Our products are packaged in glass except for our body scrubs which are packaged in HDPE plastic. We believe that this is the safest option possible for such a heavy product that is being used in the bath and could be more prone to shattering if it were packaged in glass. High-density plastic (HDPE) can withstand high temperatures, does not leach phthalates and is more easily recyclable than other kinds of plastic.

How can I recycle my bottles & containers?

All of our products are recyclable as long as you clean out the bottles beforehand. If you live in the Los Angeles area, you can participate in our Recycling Program at our Venice Skincare Studio and earn treatment credit for your empty bottles.

How it Works:

  • You bring back your empty OSEA products to our Venice Studio.
  • For every 6 full size or 1oz travel size products returned, you receive a $40 treatment credit.
  • We ensure that each glass bottle is recycled properly.

Skincare Concerns

Are people with skin allergies sensitive to OSEA?

Many people with sensitive skin or skin allergies do well with OSEA products, since they are free of synthetic ingredients and fragrances, gluten, parabens, and sulfates. In addition, all of our products are vegan and most are made with USDA certified organic seaweed.

I’m allergic to seafood/shellfish, can I use OSEA?

Yes. Shellfish allergy is due to a protein produced by animals. We do not use any animal products in our formulations. If you can swim in the ocean, you can use OSEA products.

Individuals with an iodine allergy must avoid using OSEA or ANY products that contain iodine (which includes seaweed). You can read more about iodine allergies here: http://www.allergyexpert.us/food/shellfishallergy.html.

Will the botanical or essential oils in OSEA products make my skin oily?

No. Botanical and essential oils work to restore your skin’s natural moisture balance. They should not clog your pores or cause breakouts.

Can I use OSEA while I’m pregnant?

We use only natural, non-toxic ingredients, and diligently research their safety. However, as with any product, if you are pregnant or nursing check with your doctor first before using if you have concerns.

Does OSEA ship to P.O. Boxes or Military APO/FPO addresses?

How will my order be shipped?

Orders with Standard Shipping will be shipped using FedEx. We also offer UPS 2nd Day Air for an additional fee. Orders $500+ may require a signature upon delivery. We are currently experiencing significant shipping delays on international orders. 

How soon after I purchase will my order ship?

All orders leave our facility in California within 2-5 business days. Overnight orders placed after 11am PST will ship the following business day.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

Standard or free shipping in California takes about 1-3 business days, after it leaves our warehouse. Orders shipping to the West Coast and Midwest take 3-5 days and East Coast 5-7 days, after it leaves our warehouse.

Product return must be initiated within 30 days of purchase. For a refund, approximately 60% or more of the product must be remaining in the original container. If you do not include your order number on your return, we may be unable to process your return.

Customers are responsible for the cost of return shipping. We only process returns for products purchased at www.oseamalibu.com.

Securely wrap your return. OSEA is not responsible for returned items lost and/or broken in transit.

Please note, all orders shipped with a promotional Gift With Purchase, must include the gift item with the return if the value of the returning products disqualify the order from the promotion. If the gift is not included, the value of the gift will be deducted from return.

What if my product arrives damaged, broken, or spilled?
