OSEA was born from generations of women inspired by the sea and the healing power it holds. Our story begins in the 1920s with our founder Jenefer's grandmother, Elsa.
Elsa was a true pioneer. More than 100 years ago, she became one of the first female chiropractors in America, dedicating her life to helping others heal through the power of touch. A mother of six, she loved working with her hands, whether caring for her patients or knitting sweaters for her family.
After recovering from a serious injury, Elsa discovered the healing power of the ocean. She went on to found the Long Island Polar Bear Club and swam in the sea nearly every day of the year, even through snow and ice. Her unwavering belief in the power of the sea became a guiding inspiration for her granddaughter, Jenefer, and continues to shape OSEA's philosophy today.
