If you love OSEA skincare, you probably know by now that we formulate with seaweed—an abundant, sustainable resource known for its incredible skin benefits. We source seaweed from around the world based on its high mineral content and combine it with plant-based ingredients at clinically tested levels.
But did you know you can have your seaweed skincare and eat it too? Not exactly—but you can enjoy some of the same benefits of our red algae skincare in this easy sea moss gummy recipe.
The Benefits of Red Algae in Skincare
Red algae (aka seaweed) is a hero ingredient in many of our products, from Dream Night Serum to Salts of the Earth Body Scrub. It helps mineralize the skin for a more hydrated, healthier-looking complexion. It’s also packed with bio-protective oligosaccharides, essential minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, and other skin-loving nutrients.
What Is Irish Sea Moss?
Irish sea moss is a type of red algae (scientifically known as Chondrus crispus) that's making waves in the wellness world. This mineral-rich sea vegetable (yes, a vegetable!) grows along the Atlantic coastline, particularly near Ireland. Sea moss is gaining traction as a superfood supplement, with potential benefits for thyroid health, heart health, gut health, and more. Naturally rich in iodine, iron, calcium, magnesium, and vitamins like A, C, and E, it’s just as nourishing for your body as it is for your skin.

How Do You Use It?
Sea moss is available in gel, flake, or powder form. While your favorite TikTok influencer might be downing it by the spoonful, you can also enjoy it more pleasantly in a gummy. If you have a thyroid condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking medication, please consult your healthcare provider before adding sea moss to your diet. Even for healthy individuals, it’s best to treat sea moss as a supplement and follow your doctor’s guidance on daily intake.
