What do face masks do, and how do they benefit your skin?
Unlike traditional cleansers which are rinsed off immediately, face masks sit on your skin for an extended period to cleanse, purify, and restore. Our Red Algae Mask is infused with a trio of seaweeds to cleanse and draw out impurities, while our Seaglow Overnight Serum AHA Treatment enhances tone and texture by exfoliating and promoting cell turnover.
For deeper exfoliation, our Seaglow Resurfacing Scrub smooths the skin and minimizes the pores, while our fast-absorbing Essential Corrective Complex clarifies oily or blemish-prone skin for rapid results. No matter your skin type or concerns, our plant-based face masks offer a range of options for everyone.
How do you choose the best face mask for your skin type?
Like all skincare, face masks are available in a variety of formulas, each suited to specific needs. If you have oily, blemish-prone, or combination skin, a clarifying formula (like our Essential Corrective Complex) can help absorb oil and keep your skin looking balanced. Most skin types can benefit from routine exfoliation to smooth away dull, uneven skin by eliminating excess dirt and oils.
Try using exfoliants like our Seaglow Resurfacing Scrub or our Seaglow Overnight Serum twice a week. If you have sensitive skin, you may find traditional exfoliants a bit too powerful. In this case, we recommend our gentle Red Algae Clarifying Mask instead.
Are face masks genuinely effective for improving skin health?
The effectiveness of skincare will always depend on variables like each user’s skin type and how products are used. With that in mind, all our products represent the intersection of science and nature, including our vegan face masks, which are powered by plants. Specifically, seaweed. This group of marine plants and algae is nature’s source of nutrient-rich superfoods that deliver replenishing benefits.
Our products aren’t simply meant to feel good; they’re meant to achieve meaningful results towards improving skin health. Proudly backed by Results You Can Sea®, our formulas have been validated by clinical testing and consumer perception studies. When you purchase our Seaglow Overnight Serum AHA Treatment, for instance, you’re getting a product that reveals smoother feeling skin for 97% of users immediately.
How often should you use exfoliating masks for optimal results?
There are multiple formulas of exfoliants available, each of which works differently to support smoother skin. Physical scrubs, like our Seaglow Resurfacing Scrub, are textured to wash away dirt and excess oils and should be used two to three times a week.
Our Seaglow Overnight Serum AHA Treatment, on the other hand, is a chemical exfoliant featuring 9% AHA + 2% Phytic Acid, which promotes skin turnover to enhance your skin’s tone and texture. This formula works best when used once or twice a week. Whether you choose to use one or the other or both, chemical and physical exfoliants shouldn’t be combined, but used on alternative days to avoid over-exfoliating.
What types of exfoliants are used in OSEA facial masks?
Our plant-based face masks feature several different exfoliants. Within our algae mask you’ll find natural bentonite clay, which draws out impurities and eliminates excess oil.
Our Seaglow Resurfacing Scrub is also formulated with bentonite, along with additional exfoliating agents like kiwi AHA-infused rice microparticles, volcanic sand, and flower acids. The combination of oceanic physical exfoliants and flower acids creates a powerful solution to enhance cell renewal, wash away dirt and oil, and reduce the appearance of pores for smoother-looking skin.
What makes OSEA facial masks clean, vegan, and cruelty-free?
Like all our products, we maintain high standards for our face masks. We prohibit the use of ingredients known or suspected to be linked to adverse health effects, and our formulation guidelines are informed by a rigorous list of standards and regulations, including the California Proposition 65, Sephora Clean Beauty Standard, and more than a dozen other global standards.
Our formulas are vegan and certified cruelty-free, and we maintain a number of certifications including Leaping Bunny, Ocean Positive, PETA, and Forest Stewardship Council. We chose to formulate our products with cruelty-free, vegan ingredients nearly three decades ago, and we were also among the first skincare companies to be Climate Neutral Certified.
