As a brand whose name is inspired by nature’s elements, Ocean, Sun, Earth + Atmosphere, we have a distinct duty to protect the elements that we draw from. In 2020, we became one of the first skincare brands to be The Climate Label Certified through The Change Climate Project. This means each year, we measure our cradle-to-customer emissions, implement action plans to reduce them, and invest in high quality, verified carbon credits.

As a seaweed-based brand, we know that healthy oceans are crucial to protecting our planet. In 2022, we began partnering with SeaTrees to support coastal restoration projects like mangrove planting in Mida Creek, Kenya and forest protection in Cambodia’s Southern Cardamom region that work to sequester carbon from the atmosphere.

We believe that sustainability is the only way forward. Since launching in 1996, we have prioritized recyclable packaging like glass. Today, OSEA is reducing virgin plastic by switching to product pumps and lids made with post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials, aiming for 50% PCR content in all plastic components. We are also reducing paper waste by using smaller shipper boxes, increasing PCR in unit boxes and eliminating printed insert materials.

Sustainability has always been a core value at OSEA. That’s why we’ve partnered with TerraCycle® to provide a recycling program for skincare packaging at our Venice Skincare Studio.

How it Works:

• You bring back your empty products (6 to be exact)
• For every 6 returned, you receive a $40 facial treatment credit
• We ensure that each glass bottle is recycled properly

Our recycling program is currently only available to individuals who are able to make in-person visits to our L.A. based Venice Skincare Studio. We are working to expand this service to our global community.
